Coronavirus vaccine, the hot topic of these days when a minister of Haryana volunteers for human trial and a lot of news flashed with pop and show. Here is the Doctor of PGI, who already has received the 2nd dose of COVISHIELD (Oxford University-Serum Institute of India vaccine ) keep it classified till the time we got a hand on information on this. He is 60+ in age, a diabetic, Hypertensive, and above all these comorbidities, the whole PGI Hospital Management responsibility falls on his shoulders. He is Medical Superintendent of PGIMER, Dr. A.K Gupta.
Dr. Gupta has been one of the first volunteers, who came forward for vaccine human trial. He just has received his 2nd Dose and working as normal as he used to in the hospital. PGIMER already had administered the second dose of vaccine to 100 volunteers as part of the ongoing phase 3 trials. 149 participants who were administered the first dose of Covishield and the result were satisfactory. In the final and third phase of the trial, all participants will be inoculated with the second dose. The second dose has already been given to 100 participants and the trial is nearing completion, after which results on immunogenicity and cell-mediated immunity will be generated and analysed for final outcomes.
While talking about this, Dr. A.K Gupta says, “I just did my duty as a Health Care worker. There is nothing to propagate it, But yes, people shall come forward for such causes for the sake of humanity.”
