Yamaraj Descends on Amritsar Streets to Promote Road Safety Awareness

Yamaraj Descends on Amritsar Streets to Promote Road Safety Awareness. Amritsar witnessed an innovative road safety campaign on Tuesday as an artist, dressed as Yamaraj, roamed the streets to educate violators of traffic rules. This initiative, organized by the Amritsar Traffic Police in collaboration with the Nehru Yuva Kendra, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.

The Yamaraj-clad artist reprimanded two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets and warned those who ignored seat belts. He also targeted individuals violating zebra crossings, offering dramatic lessons on the consequences of ignoring safety rules. The campaign is part of the city’s ongoing Traffic Awareness Week, where different areas are covered daily to educate the public about road safety.

The artist, Paramjit Singh, took a creative approach to convey the message. Speaking to violators, he humorously warned that non-compliance with traffic rules could lead to fatal consequences. “If you don’t follow the rules here, I’ll take you above and teach you the lessons there,” he quipped. The Traffic Police said that the campaign is directly aiming at preventing accidents and saving lives.

They appealed to the public to use helmets and seat belts, emphasizing that these are rather easy precautions that could save families from the agony of losing family members in accidents.

According to Paramjit Singh, thousands of people die in road accidents every year, and his role as Yamaraj is intended to highlight the urgency of road safety.

Punjab Police noted that such awareness drives are organized annually to educate the public and expressed optimism that this year’s campaign would effectively instill traffic discipline among citizens.
