Just months before the Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s sweeping victory in the urban local body polls has given a major political boost to the party across the state. Celebrating the massive win, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and other senior leaders thanked the people of Punjab for endorsing Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s ‘Kaam ki Rajneeti’ (politics of work).
The AAP Supremo asserted the people of Punjab have rewarded the Bhagwant Mann government’s performance with a historic mandate, while the “ED Party” has been wiped out from the state after traders and ordinary people responded strongly to repeated ED raids and harassment targeting small businessmen across Punjab.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal warned businesspersons across Punjab and said, “After the civic election results declared on Friday, the ED Party is planning ED raids against several traders in the coming days. All traders should remain alert. Our government stands firmly with every trader. The ED Party must be completely driven out of Punjab.”
Sharing a video on social media platform ‘X’, Arvind Kejriwal stated, “The results of the municipal corporations and urban local body elections in Punjab were declared today and the Aam Aadmi Party has completely swept the entire state. The party has registered a massive victory across all urban local bodies. A few days ago, the results of the rural local body elections for panchayats, panchayat samitis and zila parishads were also declared, and the Aam Aadmi Party had achieved a huge victory there as well. Now the urban election results have come and we have once again secured a massive win.”
The AAP Chief asserted, “The ED Party used to claim that it was strong in urban areas. Today it has become clear that the ED Party has been completely wiped out from the cities. Especially after the way the ED was used in recent days to conduct raids against small traders across Punjab and harass ordinary traders and Hindu businesspersons, the people have taken revenge against the ED Party and completely wiped it out across Punjab.”
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated on X, “The people of Punjab have once again endorsed the work of the AAP government. After the Assembly elections, Lok Sabha elections, panchayat elections and now the municipal corporation and municipal council elections too, the AAP has registered a huge victory. Our candidates have won in more than 90% of the municipal councils.”
The Chief Minister pointed out, “Even if the combined votes of all opposition parties including Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP are added together, they still do not match the Aam Aadmi Party. The BJP has slipped to the fifth position.”
Meanwhile, AAP Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia thanked the people of Punjab and said, “The Aam Aadmi Party has registered a massive victory in Punjab’s urban local body elections. This victory is the people’s message that they are happy with the work of the Bhagwant Singh Mann government. It is also a message that the people of Punjab do not accept the dirty politics of the ED Party. The deposits of 1,142 candidates of the ED Party have been forfeited in Punjab. The politics of fear, hatred and betrayal practiced by the ED Party does not work in Punjab.”
On the other hand, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The results of the Punjab civic elections have once again proven that people always stand against injustice. Whenever someone faces injustice and attempts are made to suppress them, people unite in their support. For the past two months, the ED has virtually camped in Punjab. First, raids were conducted at the homes of our MPs, after which some joined the BJP out of fear or temptation. Despite this, raids are continuously being carried out at the homes of our ministers, MLAs and in government offices. ED action is taking place at two or three places almost every week.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj added, “The people of Punjab are watching how the BJP government at the Centre is entirely focused on destroying the Aam Aadmi Party. That is the reason why the people of Punjab have now firmly stood with the Aam Aadmi Party.”
