Haryana CM Nayab Saini Raises Yield Cap for Rabi Crops, Farmers to Relish Relief

Haryana CM Nayab Saini Raises Yield Cap for Rabi Crops, Farmers to Relish Relief. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has opted to raise per-acre average ceilings for Rabi crops, relief for farmers. The new ceilings will ensure farmers are not put in a piquant position of selling their produce at higher yields.

The five crops fall under the new ceilings. The maximum yield of barley has been raised from 15 quintals to 16 quintals per acre, and that of chickpea from 5 quintals to 6 quintals per acre. The maximum yield of sunflower has been changed from 8 quintals to 9 quintals per acre, and that of summer-harvested moong from 3 quintals to 4 quintals per acre. Also, the output of lentils, which has not been settled before, is now settled at 4 quintals per hectare.

All these changes shall be effective from the Rabi marketing season of 2025-26. Farmers have long been demanding an increase in the output limits for several years. On January 9, a pre-budget meet was organized by CM Saini with farmers at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, where the farmers put forward their grievances. He assured them after the meeting that their complaints would be examined and also committed a special package for farmers in the next budget.
