Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday launched the state’s ‘Happening Haryana 2.0’ international outreach and Global Capital Campaign in Mumbai, with investment proposals worth more than Rs 66,000 crore expected to translate into Memoranda of Understanding during the three day investor summit being held from August 23 to 25.
The Mumbai campaign is part of Haryana’s preparations for the Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2.0, scheduled for April 2027. The state government is using the financial capital to connect with major investors, corporate leaders, private equity and venture capital representatives and the Haryana diaspora.
Saini interacted with members of the Haryana diaspora in Mumbai and urged them to play a larger role in the state’s economic development. He said Haryanvis settled outside the state should not be viewed merely as members of the diaspora but as an “extended strength” of Haryana and ambassadors of its positive identity.
The Chief Minister appealed to the diaspora to contribute not only through investments but also through ideas, expertise and participation. He called upon them to mentor students and startups, support sportspersons, help women’s self help groups find markets and facilitate the entry of Haryana’s products into Mumbai and international markets.
Saini also highlighted the changing economic profile of Haryana, saying the state is expanding beyond its traditional agricultural base into industry, services, technology, startups, logistics, education, sports and innovation. He stressed the need for stronger institutional links between Haryana and Mumbai in areas such as artificial intelligence, fintech, media and entertainment, electric mobility, clean energy, sports management, agri tech and global services.
The state’s investment pitch is also focused on Haryana’s strategic location. Around 57 per cent of Haryana’s geographical area falls within the National Capital Region, giving the state access to major markets and established road, rail, aviation and logistics networks. The government is presenting these advantages along with its digital single window clearance system and sector specific policies to prospective investors.
The Mumbai programme also includes meetings with institutional investors. According to the government’s plan, the Haryana delegation is holding an investors’ meet and a breakfast roundtable with private equity and venture capital representatives, apart from one to one meetings with leading industry figures. The discussions are aimed at converting investment interest into concrete projects and partnerships.
Haryana is particularly seeking investment in electric vehicles and mobility, semiconductors, data centres, artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, Global Capability Centres and green energy. The state has also introduced new sectoral policies to create a more attractive environment for investors.
Saini said the state was focusing on quality education, skills and employment for rural youth, while efforts were also being made to connect farmers with technology, food processing, branding and export markets.
The Mumbai outreach assumes significance as Haryana prepares for the 2027 global investors summit. The state government hopes that the proposed investment agreements will generate new industrial activity, employment and business opportunities and strengthen Haryana’s position as a major manufacturing, technology and services hub.
The campaign also has a strong Haryana diaspora component. During the Mumbai event, actor Randeep Hooda and actress Meghna Malik were among those who participated in the programme and welcomed the Chief Minister.
The Haryana government has set its sights on turning the Mumbai outreach into a long term investment campaign rather than a one time roadshow. The immediate target is to convert the more than Rs 66,000 crore investment potential into formal MoUs during the three day programme and subsequently move these proposals towards actual project implementation.
