Though No one can deny the fact that heroine if much more intoxicated drug than ATS (Amphetamine-type stimulants) Drug but still PGIMER experts are fearing future of youth of North India. They (youth) have no idea where are they leading to. These Doctors do not even know the treatment line of ATS abusers. That is why PGIMER today have held Refresher Course in Psychiatry wherein ATS drugs was one of the pertinent issue says Dr Deboshish Basu of Psychiatry Department.
Now, News is not that Doctors do not know the treatment line, news is something else i.e. the UNODC have alarmed INDIA on this in 2013-2014 only and Most Importantly in 2016, When Punjab Police Recruitment was going on and medical tests done on 376355 appearing Candidates, Amphetamine was found in 1672 youngsters says a Veteran Correspondent who attended that Akali-BJP Conference on drugs in 2014 where in Sukhbir Badal was the main speaker.
Notably When Synthetic drugs issue was raised before then AKALI-BJP Government in 2014 held press conference, It was said that “IT IS JUST A POWER ENHANCING DRUG” by an Orthopedician Vice Chancellor of Medical University (Not even a psychiatrist was deemed fit for giving statement on this). This is to our surprise that then Government took it so casually that No one from Government Hospitals’ learned doctors (INCLUDING PGIMER) dared to have raised any question over this attitude. They are taking this issue seriously today though same drugs was present in market at that time too.
Today PGIMER experts are fearing for youth of Tomorrow, in 2014 they had Political fears for themselves while saying anything on this. Nevertheless, PGIMER Psychiatry Department initiated to make doctor learn the Treatment line for ATS abusers. More than 230 participants who included faculty members, medical officers, private psychiatrists, psychiatry residents and trainees from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, UP, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshdweep, Andaman and Nicobar, Gujarat, J&K and Sikkim attended the program.
