Lt Gen Harjeet Singh Sahi takes over as Western Command Chief of Staff

Lt Gen Harjeet Singh Sahi has taken over as the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Western Command at Chandimandir Military Station, bringing pride to Punjab and his native district of Fatehgarh Sahib.

A native of Nabipur village in Sadhugarh, Lt Gen Sahi is a highly decorated Army officer and has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) and Sena Medal (SM) for his distinguished service.

Lt Gen Sahi studied at Punjab Public School, Nabha, before joining the Indian Military Academy. He was commissioned into the 23rd Battalion of the Rajput Regiment in December 1988 and presently holds the prestigious appointment of Colonel of the Rajput Regiment.

Residents of his native village celebrated the occasion by distributing sweets. His elder brother Surjit Singh Sahi, a businessman and President of the Press Club Fatehgarh Sahib, termed the development a proud moment for the family, district, state and the country.

He said the achievement of Lt Gen Sahi would motivate the youth to serve the nation with dedication and commitment.

Congratulatory messages poured in from across Fatehgarh Sahib district, with residents and prominent personalities describing his elevation as a matter of great pride for the region.
