The Haryana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, today approved a series of welfare-oriented measures spanning housing, employment, compensation, healthcare staffing, and compassionate appointments.
🏠 Affordable Housing Boost
Economically weaker section (EWS) beneficiaries under PM Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 will now pay only ₹500 stamp duty and ₹500 registration fee on eligible dwelling units up to 60 sq mts. This move drastically reduces transaction costs compared to the current 5% stamp duty plus additional charges, easing home ownership under the Housing for All initiative.
👨🚒 Jobs for Ex-Agniveers
The Cabinet expanded 20% horizontal reservation for Haryana-domiciled ex-Agniveers to posts including fire operator-cum-driver, wildlife guard, and constables in the Indian Reserve Battalion and State Disaster Response Force. Reservation for forest guard, jail warder, and mining guard posts has also been raised from 10% to 20%.
⚖️ Relief in Custodial Deaths
Families of individuals who die unnaturally in police custody will receive ₹7.5 lakh compensation. The payout covers deaths due to quarrels, torture, suicide, or negligence, subject to a Magistrate-led inquiry. In cases of torture or beating, at least 50% of the compensation will be recovered from the erring official’s salary.
🏥 Strengthening Healthcare
The Cabinet approved creation of 22 Senior Radiology Officer posts, one in each district, under the Health Department. These posts will be filled through promotion of Radiology Officers with five years’ service. The designation of Radiographer has been officially changed to Radiology Officer.
🇮🇳 Compassionate Appointments
Three dependents of battle casualties — Harsh (son of Sepoy Sultan Singh, Karnal), Khushboo (daughter of CRPF Constable Pardip Kumar, Bhiwani), and Yogesh (son of CRPF Constable Sandeep Kumar, Bhiwani) — will now be eligible for Group-C jobs after attaining majority and completing their education.
