Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini on Wednesday attended a state-level programme at the Pipli grain market in Kurukshetra, where he distributed land allotment certificates to eligible families from the Kumhar/Prajapati community. The initiative, aimed at promoting social upliftment and preserving traditional pottery skills, will provide beneficiaries with reserved panchayat land for making earthenware and operating kilns. The CM was given a warm welcome at the venue.
The move is being implemented under Rule 3(4) of the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Rules, 1964, which prioritises members of the Kumhar caste who do not own land for collecting clay. Eligible families will be allotted up to about five acres of panchayat land to strengthen their livelihood in traditional pottery.
Beneficiaries from Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, and Yamunanagar districts were present at the event to receive certificates. Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, and Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana also participated. Similar distribution programmes are scheduled to be held in other districts across the state.
