BJP Govt’s LPG price hike has added to burden on common people : Harpal Cheema

Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Sunday criticized the BJP-led Central Government over the latest hike in domestic LPG cylinder prices, saying that the continuous increase in fuel and essential commodity prices is making life increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens across the country. He stated that poor and middle-class families are already struggling under the burden of inflation, and the fresh hike in cooking gas prices has further increased their hardships.

Reacting to the ₹29 increase in the price of domestic LPG cylinders, senior AAP leader and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that after repeated hikes in commercial LPG cylinder prices, the burden has now once again been shifted onto households. “The common citizen is being hit by inflation from every direction. Prices of diesel, LPG, CNG, and other essential commodities continue to rise, making everyday life more expensive for millions of families,” he said.

The senior AAP leader stated that the BJP government is using international developments, including the USA-Iran war, as an excuse to impose additional financial burdens on citizens. He said that despite coming to power on promises of controlling inflation and providing relief from high fuel prices, the BJP has consistently failed to fulfil those commitments.

He further noted that the increase in commercial LPG cylinder prices has already affected small businesses, street vendors and local eateries. “The increase in commercial LPG cylinder prices has already impacted small businesses, street vendors, and local eateries. With domestic LPG prices now also rising, the financial pressure on households and small entrepreneurs will only intensify,” said Harpal Singh Cheema.

The Finance Minister said that the Modi government’s economic policies have weakened the country’s economic condition and reduced the purchasing power of ordinary people. He remarked that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi frequently travels abroad, his government’s foreign and economic policies have failed to provide relief to citizens at home.

Demanding an immediate rollback of the LPG price hike, Harpal Singh Cheema said the Centre must take concrete measures to control inflation instead of repeatedly increasing fuel prices. “The continuous rise in fuel and cooking gas prices is pushing the country towards economic hardship. The Centre must stop burdening ordinary people and focus on providing genuine relief to the masses,” he added.
