A delegation of farmers and representatives of various farmer organisations from Punjab met Nayab Singh Saini and apprised him of the worsening condition of agriculture and farmers in the state.
During the meeting, the farmer representatives highlighted the growing difficulties being faced by the farming community in Punjab, particularly issues related to agriculture power supply. They informed the Chief Minister that inadequate and irregular electricity supply for agricultural purposes was creating serious problems for farmers during the ongoing farming season.
The delegation also stated that farmers in Punjab were being deprived of several farmer friendly facilities and policies being extended by the Centre and the Haryana Government. They said Punjab farmers were looking towards better support systems and wanted facilities similar to those available in Haryana and under various schemes of the Central Government.
Representatives of the farmer organisations said that Punjab farmers wanted coordination with the Centre and implementation of measures on the lines of Haryana to improve the condition of the farming sector.
The delegation also invited Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to visit Punjab and interact directly with farmers in the state.
Responding to the concerns raised by the delegation, Nayab Singh Saini assured the farmer representatives of all possible support and cooperation. He said the welfare of farmers remained a priority and every effort would be made to address genuine concerns related to agriculture and allied sectors.
