Constitution Triumphs Over Political Witch-Hunt; BJP’s Plot to Crush AAP Fails: Cheema
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the acquittal of Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, senior leader Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Durgesh Pathak, Satyendar Jain, and others in the alleged Delhi liquor scam case has completely exposed politically motivated conspiracy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Reacting to the Delhi court’s decision granting them a clean chit in the liquor scam case, Cheema said the verdict has made it clear before the entire nation that the case was fabricated through the misuse of central agencies in an attempt to defame and politically eliminate the leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party.
“The judge’s decision itself reveals the extent of the conspiracy that the BJP orchestrated against the Aam Aadmi Party. Through the misuse of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), an attempt was made to put a question mark on AAP’s honesty. Today, it has become clear before the people in the country how these agencies were misused for political purposes,” Cheema said.
He recalled that AAP was born out of a nationwide movement against corruption and was founded by leaders who dedicated their lives to clean politics. “Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Durgesh Pathak, Satyendar Jain, these are the leaders who laid the foundation of the Aam Aadmi Party and expanded it across the country. Today, we are in government and opposition in multiple states because of their commitment and sacrifice.”
Cheema emphasized that the verdict is also a victory of the Constitution drafted by B. R. Ambedkar. “Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who rose from poverty to frame the Constitution of India, ensured equality, protection of personal liberty, and fundamental rights for every citizen. If you read the Constitution closely, you understand how deeply it safeguards individual freedom. Today, the Delhi court’s verdict proves that the Constitution stands above all,” he said.
Cheema, who practiced law himself, said that this case will be remembered in the country’s legal history. “In the history of this country, this is a case where the BJP’s CBI has been completely exposed. There was no evidence, yet a so-called scam was manufactured. The BJP and the Union Home Minister must answer for this game that was played against Babasaheb Ambedkar’s law.”
He thanked the judiciary, saying, “Courts always stand for justice and truth. Under the Constitution, every citizen has the right to live with dignity, take part in politics and serve people. Today’s verdict reaffirms that principle.”
Cheema accused the BJP of attempting to weaken democracy by misusing constitutional provisions. “The Constitution does not belong to the BJP or to any single party. It belongs to Babasaheb Ambedkar and to 140 crore Indians. It was created to ensure that people can live with dignity and receive quality education. But the BJP cannot digest the fact that Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are delivering quality education to the poor.”
He added that the BJP is uncomfortable with government school students gaining admission into premier institutions like IITs, with poor families receiving quality healthcare, and with efforts to eliminate corruption and drug abuse in Delhi and Punjab.
“That is why they tried to break the Aam Aadmi Party. But today, lakhs of people across the country who believe in the Constitution are celebrating. Truth has prevailed.”
Cheema expressed gratitude to AAP workers for standing firmly with the party during difficult times and continuing to expose the BJP’s actions.
He concluded by stating that while both the Congress and the BJP have used Dr. Ambedkar’s name for political gain, it is the Aam Aadmi Party that has carried forward his ideology in practice.
“This verdict is a victory of truth. Today, millions of people in the country have understood that the BJP relies on falsehood, but the Constitution and justice ultimately prevail,” Cheema said.
