NIA Raids Immigration Agent’s House in Amritsar Over Suspected Illegal Foreign Transfers; Documents Seized, Security Tightened
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a surprise raid at a house in Amritsar’s Shastri Nagar on Tuesday morning. The residence belongs to Vishal Sharma, an immigration agent who runs a business in Ranjit Avenue reportedly related to sending people abroad.
NIA officials arrived early in the morning and began a thorough inspection of documents stored in the house. No family members were allowed to leave the premises during the operation. Local police were deployed on-site, and security in the area was stepped up.
Sources suggest the NIA received inputs about suspicious documents or activities linked to Sharma’s immigration business, prompting the raid. However, there has been no official confirmation or information on any arrests so far.
The agency is said to be scrutinizing individuals and businesses engaged in the illegal facilitation of foreign travel. While the NIA has not made a public statement yet, sources indicate that Tuesday’s action is part of a larger investigation into such unlawful immigration operations that has been ongoing since the beginning of the year.
