A 40-year-old scrap dealer was allegedly stabbed to death by his live-in partner in Gurugram’s DLF Phase 3 area early Saturday after an argument triggered by his conversation with his ailing wife, police said.
The deceased, Harish Sharma, belonged to Baliawas village and had been in a live-in relationship for over a year with 27-year-old Yashmeet Kaur, a resident of Ashok Nagar in Delhi. The couple lived together in a rented apartment.
Though Sharma was married and had two daughters who lived with his wife in the village, he maintained regular contact with them, especially due to his wife’s poor health. According to police, Kaur was angered by his ongoing communication with his wife.
The conflict came to a head late Friday night when Kaur saw Sharma speaking with his wife over the phone. An argument ensued, and in a fit of rage, Kaur allegedly stabbed Sharma in the chest with a kitchen knife. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A friend of the deceased, Vijay alias Sethi, was reportedly present in another room at the time and is now under police scrutiny. Sharma’s nephew has accused both Kaur and Vijay of plotting the murder.
Kaur has been arrested and has confessed to the crime, police said, adding that the murder weapon and a blood-soaked T-shirt were recovered from the apartment.
