Haryana to Recruit 8,000 Contractual Sanitation Workers in Villages Soon. Haryana will soon recruit 8,000 sanitation workers on a contractual basis to address the shortage in villages (Haryana Bharti 2025). Out of the 18,580 approved posts for sanitation workers in rural areas, only 10,585 positions are currently filled, leaving 7,795 vacancies.
During the budget session, Congress MLA Pooja Chaudhary raised an unstarred question, asking the government about the number of filled and vacant sanitation worker posts in villages. While her question was listed, it could not be discussed in the session.
In response, Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar informed the MLA that, as per rules, one sanitation worker is appointed for every village with a population of 1,000. In villages with a population exceeding 20,000, ten sanitation workers must be deployed.
Recruitment Process to Begin Soon
The Development and Panchayat Minister acknowledged the shortage of nearly 8,000 sanitation workers in rural areas. The state government has decided to fill these vacancies through HKRNL (Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited). The recruitment process has already begun, and around 8,000 sanitation workers will soon be appointed across Haryana’s villages.
