Haryana to receive three National Awards under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

Haryana has achieved another significant milestone at the national level through its outstanding performance under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The state will be honoured with three prestigious awards during the national event, “Two Years of PM Surya Ghar: Scaling the Solar Home to 1 Crore Rooftops,” being organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, in New Delhi on June 4, 2026.

Sharing information in this regard, Special Secretary, Energy Department, and Managing Director, UHBVN and DHBVN, Vikram Singh said that the information was conveyed through an invitation letter sent by the Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Santosh Sarangi, to Haryana Chief Secretary, SAnurag Rastogi. The letter stated that Haryana has been selected for the “PM Surya Ghar Excellence Award” for its exceptional performance during the nationwide “Month of Solar” campaign conducted in May 2026.

Haryana will receive awards in the following three categories:

Month of Solar – Maximum Consumer Applications: Third Position with 17,142 applications, Month of Solar – Maximum Solar Installations: Second Position with 11,983 installations

Month of Solar – Maximum DISCOM Inspections (UHBVN & DHBVN): Third Position with 12,514 inspections.

 The Ministry acknowledged that this achievement reflects the effective leadership of the State Government and the dedicated efforts of the Energy Department, the State Nodal Agency, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), field-level officials, and implementation partners.

Sharing information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Nigam said that a delegation of officers associated with the PM Surya Ghar scheme will represent Haryana and receive the awards at the national event. The recognition is being viewed as an important national acknowledgement of Haryana’s efforts to promote renewable energy and accelerate the adoption of clean and green energy solutions across the state.

The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, launched in February 2024, aims to install rooftop solar systems in one crore households across India by March 2027. So far, more than 40 lakh families have benefited from the scheme, while over 32 lakh rooftop solar installations have been completed nationwide.
