CM Saini to chair Sirsa grievance meeting on June 19 amid growing civic concerns

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will chair the District Grievance Redressal Committee meeting in Sirsa on June 19, marking his first visit to personally conduct the proceedings after taking charge. The meeting will be held at the Panchayat Bhawan complex, where around 15 agenda items are expected to be taken up for hearing.

The district administration has begun preparations for the visit and will also organise a Jan Kalyan Camp at the venue. Officials from various departments will provide information on Central and state government welfare schemes and facilitate registration of eligible beneficiaries.

Officials said public grievances and complaints would also be heard during the camp and forwarded to the concerned departments for necessary action. The camp is likely to be organised either before or after the grievance committee meeting to ensure that residents who are unable to raise their concerns during official proceedings are also heard.

Earlier, Cabinet Minister Anil Vij used to preside over grievance committee meetings in Sirsa. His last meeting was held on January 30, during which decisions on some agenda items were deferred and reports were sought. However, Vij’s absence due to a foot injury disrupted the process, prompting the Chief Minister to take direct charge.

The visit comes at a time when civic issues have become a major concern in the city. Municipal Council Chairman Veer Shanti Swaroop recently met the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum seeking solutions to problems related to sewerage, drinking water supply, vacant council posts and other civic issues.

Former Home Minister Gopal Kanda has also written to the Chief Minister on several occasions, alleging irregularities in tendering processes and raising questions over government works. His brother, Gobind Kanda, has also remained absent from several recent BJP programmes attended by the Chief Minister and senior party leaders.

Meanwhile, Sirsa MLA Gokul Setia accused political rivals of misleading the public by first advocating development works and later questioning the same projects. He said residents would not be influenced by such claims.

Residents continue to face difficulties due to incomplete infrastructure projects across the city. Roads and streets dug up for sewerage, drinking water and stormwater drainage works remain unrepaired in several areas despite work continuing for more than a year. Citizens have also complained about poor restoration work, malfunctioning sewerage lines and inadequate sanitation, demanding immediate repairs to improve traffic movement and civic amenities.
