CM Saini offers prayers at Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple on the second Monday of Sawan

Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini said that the State Government has taken several initiatives to place Kurukshetra prominently on the global religious tourism map, he said. He said the month of Sawan was dedicated to Lord Shiva and that he was fortunate to have received the opportunity to seek the blessings of Baba on the second Monday of Sawan. He prayed to Lord Shiva for continued peace, prosperity and happiness in Haryana.

On the auspicious occasion of the second Monday of Sawan, the Chief Minister visited the Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple in Kurukshetra and offered prayers to Lord Shiva. Amid the chanting of religious hymns and rituals, the Chief Minister performed Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva and offered belpatra, dhatura and flowers, praying for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of the state.

After offering prayers, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini interacted with devotees at the temple and listened to their concerns. The Chief Minister said Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple is a centre of faith in Kurukshetra. According to belief, the Pandavas had installed a Shivling and worshipped Lord Shiva at this very place after the Mahabharata war, he said.

He said the administration had made adequate arrangements to facilitate devotees visiting the area for the Kanwar Yatra and Jalabhishek during Sawan.
