Case registered in Jalandhar as police crack down on plastic kite strings

Case registered in Jalandhar as police crack down on plastic kite strings in Punjab. The Punjab Police have stepped up the campaign against the use of banned plastic kite strings in the wake of increasing deaths and injuries across the state, mainly due to the use of such sharp and dangerous strings, usually made of synthetic material. In a latest case, a man was found using the forbidden string to fly a kite from his rooftop and the police had filed a complaint against him. Bhogpur police launched a raid in a village near Bhulath Mor based on a tip-off.

Operation led by ASI Ram Kishan was conducted on Chetan Singh’s residence who was suspected of using banned string for flying kites. Although the accused was able to run away from the scene, he left behind a spool of plastic string, which was seized by the police as evidence. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest the accused. The police say it is not just a violation of the orders from the Punjab government but also poses a huge risk to public safety. These plastic kite strings, many of which have abrasive coatings, are known to cause severe cuts to pedestrians and motorcyclists. In several cases, they even resulted in death, as reported across various parts of Punjab over the past few weeks. The Punjab government has put an absolute ban on the manufacturing, sale, and usage of such strings by stating the level of danger that might be posed to human life and wildlife. Still, they are so available in the black market and still being used by certain people that every law enforcement agency cannot do much about it.

Speaking on the incident, ASI Ram Kishan stated that the police were adamant about enforcing the ban and maintaining public safety. He called upon citizens to report any violations they notice and cooperate with the authorities in containing this evil. “Such strings have caused irreparable harm, and their use will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against those found violating the law,” he said.

The police crackdown is a part of the overall drive to prevent more casualties and to make people aware of the dangers that plastic kite strings pose. Several deaths have already been attributed to these materials, and authorities are working towards a complete elimination of their use while implementing the government’s order strictly. People of Punjab are being warned not to use or sell such banned strings, as offenders will be prosecuted in court.

This incident further indicates the continuous efforts of Punjab Police to curb the problem and protect the lives of its citizens. The case filed in Jalandhar reminds the people of the strict measures and the need for public cooperation in enforcing the ban.
