BJP attempts to Malice Punjab Government using Fake Number Plate case. The Punjab Government has flayed an alleged attempt by the BJP to bad mouth it that has tried to link it to a vehicle apprehended in Delhi with illegal liquor and unaccounted cash. However, the vehicle, bearing a fake registration plate (PB35AE1342) and falsely carrying a Punjab Government sticker, has no connection with the state government.
According to official records, the number PB35AE1342 is associated with a Ford EcoSport (2018 model) belonging to Maj. Anubhav Shivpuri, a resident of Khadki, Maharashtra, who was previously posted at Army Dental College, Pathankot. The vehicle caught in Delhi was, however, a Hyundai Creta, which goes to prove that the number plate was forged. In addition, the plate did not have any High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) features, which made it easier to counterfeit.
Despite these clear facts, BJP leaders and affiliated media outlets allegedly attempted to mislead the public by falsely associating the Punjab Government with the seized vehicle. The government has denounced these baseless accusations, emphasizing that such politically motivated propaganda harms Punjab’s reputation. Authorities have urged the media to verify facts before amplifying unsubstantiated claims.
