Key accused arrested in Mansa Grenade Attack, cripples cangster-turned-terrorist Arsh Dalla’s network. A serious jolt to the gangster-turned-terrorist Arsh Dalla’s criminal network, the Mansa grenade attack case was finally cracked with the arrest of key suspect Shimla Singh. Acting on the directions from Dalla, Singh reportedly hurled a grenade at a petrol pump in Mansa, which was solved through a joint operation by Counter Intelligence (CI) Bathinda and Mansa Police, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Tuesday.
This development is close on the heels of the arrest of Anmolpreet Singh alias Vishal and Navjot Singh alias Neetu, accused of murder committed on October 9, 2024, that had killed Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau at Dalla’s behest.
There was a grenade attack at the Jio Petrol Pump on Sirsa Road, Mansa, during the night of October 26-27, 2024. After the blast, there had been an extortionist call from a foreign number to the petrol pump owner. He had claimed responsibility and demanded a ₹5 crore payment.
DGP Yadav claims Shimla Singh admitted during interrogation that he had committed the grenade attack and confessed having received the explosive from Garhshankar area from Dalla himself. Preliminary investigations also indicate that Singh was involved in the case as logistical support provider to the shooters behind the murder of Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau.
Singh is already a known criminal and reports have suggested that he had planned to attack his target in Uttarakhand in April 2023, and it was foiled by CI Bathinda, and he was caught with three pistols. Further probes are on in order to determine more links of this conspiracy and more arrests are in the offing.
SSP Mansa, Bhagirath Singh Meena, quoted that without any delay a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the guidance of SP Manmohan Singh Aulakh with the purpose of investigating the case. On the other hand, AIG CI Bathinda Avneet Kaur Sidhu declared that CI Bathinda and Mansa Police had arrested Singh from Khokhar Road, Mansa.
The incident has been officially registered under FIR No. 139, dated 27.10.2024, under sections 308 (4) and 351 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act, and section 10 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Police Station City-1 Mansa.
