Massive haul of RPGs, IEDs, RDX, and arms recovered in major anti-terror crackdown
In a significant breakthrough against cross-border terrorism, Punjab Police has arrested 13 terrorists linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Among those apprehended is a minor. The arrests came during a high-level anti-terror operation that spanned four days, leading to the dismantling of two separate terror modules active in the state.
Addressing the media, DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed that both modules were being operated from abroad and were planning to target police stations and key individuals in Punjab. The terror network, he said, was being directed remotely by handlers in Pakistan, France, and Greece.
Major Arms Recovery: RPGs, RDX, Pistols, Explosives Seized
During the operation, police recovered a large cache of arms and explosives from the arrested operatives:
- 2 Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs)
- 1 Grenade Launcher
- 2 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing 2.5 kg each
- 2 Hand Grenades, Detonators, and Remote Controls
- 2 kg of RDX
- 5 Pistols (including Beretta and Glock models)
- 6 Magazines, 44 Live Cartridges
- 1 Wireless Set
- 3 Vehicles used in terror activities
Terror Modules Uncovered: France-Greece-Pakistan Links
Module 1: France-Based Babbar Khalsa Operatives Active in Punjab
The first module has been traced back to France-based Babbar Khalsa handler Satnam Singh alias Satta Naushera, a native of Hoshiarpur. Operating from France, Satta was directing terror activities in Punjab through local recruits.
The four operatives arrested from this module include:
- Jatinder alias Honey
- Jagjit alias Jagga (Kapurthala)
- Harpreet and Jagroop (Hoshiarpur)
From this group, Punjab Police recovered a loaded RPG, two IEDs, 2 kg RDX, three pistols, six magazines, 34 cartridges, two grenades, and one wireless communication set. A case has been registered at SSOC Amritsar.
Module 2: Terror Cell Linked to Greece and Pakistan-Based Networks
The second module was being managed by Jaswinder alias Mannu Agwan, a Gurdaspur native currently hiding in Greece, and Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Rinda. Nine operatives have been arrested from this cell, including a minor.
Seized from this group were:
- 1 RPG Launcher
- 2 Pistols (Beretta and Glock)
- 10 Cartridges
- 3 Vehicles
Legal Action Underway, National Security Reinforced
“All arrested individuals were involved in anti-national activities and had planned attacks on police and public targets,” said DGP Yadav. He added that all accused will be produced in court and taken on police remand for further interrogation.
The operation is part of Punjab Police’s ongoing efforts to counter ISI-sponsored terror activities and dismantle foreign-funded extremist networks operating in the state.
