Punjab Police Bust Terror Module in Amritsar After Encounter

Punjab Police Bust Terror Module in Amritsar After Encounter, Three suspected arrested. The Punjab Police on Monday busted a terror module after an intense encounter in Amritsar, resulting in the arrest of three suspected terrorists. The operation, carried out by the Amritsar Police Commissionerate, also left two policemen injured, who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

According to officials, the arrested suspects were in the advanced stages of planning terrorist activities but were apprehended before they could execute their plans. A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them, including an AK-47 rifle, a 0.3 bore pistol, a 0.32 bore pistol, and multiple rounds of ammunition. Police sources revealed that the three accused—identified as Lovepreet, Karandeep, and Buta Singh, all residents of Amritsar Rural—were allegedly involved in the terror network for financial motives. Providing details of the encounter, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar hailed the operation as a significant achievement. He stated, “Police Commissionerate Amritsar has achieved a major success by busting a terror module and arresting three individuals. We are currently investigating their source of arms and ammunition, as well as their financial network and suppliers. The use of drones in the supply chain is also under scrutiny.”

Bhullar further disclosed that the suspects put up resistance during the operation, with one of them attempting to fire at an assistant sub-inspector while being taken into custody. “Our team acted swiftly, retaliating in self-defense, which resulted in injuries to two of the accused, Lovepreet and Buta Singh,” he added.

The police have launched an extensive investigation to unravel the entire network behind the arrested individuals, including their handlers and possible foreign links. The involvement of cross-border smuggling and drone-assisted arms supply is also being probed, as security agencies have flagged concerns over increasing drone activity in Punjab for transporting weapons, drugs, and explosives from across the border.

Officials emphasized that this crackdown is part of the Punjab Police’s ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks operating in the state. The force has been actively tracking suspicious elements and intensifying security measures to prevent any potential attacks. With the recovery of sophisticated weapons, police believe the arrested men had access to a well-established supply chain. Their interrogation is expected to shed light on the larger conspiracy and help authorities prevent future threats.

The incident has once again highlighted the persistent challenges of terrorism and organized crime in Punjab, with law enforcement agencies on high alert to counter such threats. Further arrests and recoveries are likely as the investigation progresses.
