Dictatorial rules laid for migrants in Punjab’s village A dictatorial decision is laid yet again by the villagers in Punjab. So, in turn, the villagers are considering themselves above the constitution. Of late, it is reported that the Youth Committee of the village Jandpur, following the precedence of Mundhon Sangatian in Mohali, has now taken a decision. The Youth Committee of Jandpur village passed a resolution concerning non-Punjabis. It also lays down guidelines for the migrants coming from other states. A few days ago, the Kurali Gram Panchayat of Mohali district had ordered migrants living in the village to vacate. The matter has reached the High Court now.

Now, the residents of Jandpur village, Kharar, Mohali district, have come up with a new directive regarding migrants. The village’s Youth Committee passed resolutions, with consensus from all the villagers, including:

  1. Verification of migrants is essential.
  2. Migrants are not allowed to consume pan, gutka, or bidi in the village.
  3. The place where migrants reside should necessarily have a dustbin, which is the responsibility of the owner of the property.
  4. Migrants should not stay outside of their living quarters past 9 PM.
  5. Number of persons in a house should be checked and verified on for cross validation (no more than two persons in each room).
  6. Migrants should not roam around the village half naked.
  7. Children below the age should not drive vehicles without documents or plate numbers.
  8. The tenant shall properly park their vehicles; no vehicle shall be parked on the road or street.
  9. The problem regarding the consumption of water shall be properly dealt with by using one connection per house.
  10. In case any migrant is found involved in illegal activities or harms the village, the property owner shall be held responsible for such act.
  11. Whosoever child is born or whoever gets married, they should give 2100/- to the eunuchs as a gift.
  12. Whosoever person from outside the village purchases land in the village, he should not construct rooms on it.
