Braving the biting cold, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday held a Lok Milni in Jalandhar, directly interacting with people from various Assembly constituencies and listening to their grievances. Emphasising transparent and responsive governance, the Chief Minister said such direct engagement helps understand ground realities and resolve public issues effectively.
Addressing the gathering, CM Mann said Lok Milnis would remain a regular feature of governance as they streamline grievance redressal and accelerate development. He reiterated the government’s commitment to transparent, effective and people-centric administration, stating that sustained pro-people initiatives are easing the burden on common families and putting Punjab back on the path of progress.
Highlighting his government’s vision of creating a “Rangla Punjab,” the Chief Minister said a comprehensive long-term plan has been implemented to restore the state’s past glory. He noted that unlike previous governments, he personally visits different regions to ensure inclusive development and prosperity.
CM Mann said Lok Milnis have no parallel in the country, as they allow citizens to get their issues resolved at their doorsteps while also assessing the performance of government officials. He added that the initiative strengthens governance and ensures benefits of government schemes reach people efficiently.
Listing major achievements, he said 90% of households are receiving free electricity, over 63,000 youth have been given government jobs without corruption, and 17 toll plazas have been closed, saving 64 lakh daily. In healthcare, 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics are providing free treatment, with the upcoming Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna offering cashless treatment up to 10 lakh.
In education, 118 Schools of Eminence are being established, free uniforms and bus services for girls are being provided, and special coaching is offered for competitive exams. He also highlighted the success of students in JEE and NEET and praised initiatives like the Sadak Surakhya Force.
